Autumn Forage Detective

Survey an autumn hedgerow, sort safe browse from poisonous plants and press your own horse-plant collection.

Autumn hedgerows are full of colour — and full of decisions. In this project your child becomes a plant detective, learning to recognise ragwort, sycamore seeds, acorns, yew and bracken, and comparing them with the safe browse horses love. They will carry out a proper plant survey, press and label a herbarium page, and plan a safe autumn grazing walk.
